About Ahi Evran Zawiya
It lies on the Talas Street, south of the city center, in the vicinity of Döner Tomb and Emir Ali Tomb. Ahi Evran who based all the principles on “the main source of religion, the morality of art, hospitality, helpfulness, which was established on the basis of aid for centuries, giving directions to all tradesmen, artisans and professional people, founder of the Organization of Ahi and called “Abul–Hakayık” title has been the pioneer in the establishment of the Ahi Organization in Kayseri.
In this respect the history of the founding of the first Turkish Culture Organization Ahi Evran's activities in Kayseri, it has continued for centuries on the basis of the system as determined after his death. The “Ahi Evran Zawiya” built in his name during years in which he lived, preserved its existence until the last century of the Ottoman State. Today the zawiya in Talas Street is important in this sense.
The plan of the building is similar to the plan applied in the XIII. Mid– century in Anatolia. To look at the scheme of the wall–to–wall masonry, makes one think that it was built in the XIII. Century.Ahi Evran Zawiya; was taken to the historical monuments class today by Roleve and Monuments Council, repaired by Metropolitan Municipality and given to the usage of Tradesmen and Craftsmen Chambers Union with the name “Ahi Evran Zawiya Tradesmen and Craftsmen Museum” since 2002.
