1. Cumhuriyet Square & Kayseri CastleWalk inside the historic walls that bear traces of the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. Inside the castle, the Kayseri Archaeology Museum displays Hittite, Hellenistic and Roman finds.
Photo tip: Catch the morning light on the front of the walls facing Cumhuriyet Square and Mount Erciyes.
2. Hunat Hatun Complex & MadrasaOne of the most elegant examples of 13th-century Seljuk architecture. Study the stonework in the open courtyard of the madrasa, take a short break in the courtyard tea garden and browse the craft shops.
3. The Historic Grand Bazaar & Kazancılar BazaarWander through one of Turkey's largest historic covered bazaars. Among the scents of pastırma, sucuk and çemen, discover the dowry, jewellery and coppersmiths' sections.
