About Gesi Vineyards

Gesi Bağları is located approximately 18 km east of Kayseri. When Kayseri-Sivas road is followed, Gesi is reached by a 6-km road leaving 12 km after the exit of Kayseri. It is known that wild pigeons were bred according to a certain system for fertilizer requirement in various parts of Anatolia in ancient times for use in vineyards and gardens. Pigeon manure is considered as a very valuable fertilizer in terms of its ingredients. In order to provide fertilizer requirement, some structures are needed in order to ensure regular collection and accumulation of manure in wild pigeon care. It can be said that there are three types of pigeons with different architectural styles in our country. While Cappadocia pigeons are in the form of chambers carved into the rocks, Diyarbakır Boranhanes are in the form of adobe buildings. The pigeons that we come across in GesiBağları are made of stone, which we can call as 'tower type'. This type of pigeon is found only in GesiBağları in our country. The underground room in the Gesi Bağları dovecotes is completely unique to our country and constitutes an important separation point from its counterparts abroad.

It is possible to encounter the footsteps of the past and experience the excitement in the narrow streets of Germir and Tavlus, which are very close to Kayseri, intertwined with history and everywhere is covered with history. There are settlements, churches and monasteries carved into the valleys. In addition, today's residential areas are very important architecturally. Tavlusun is a summer resort where bureaucrats once lived in Kayseri. The names of the houses also show this. It is understood from these names that the governor of Kayseri, the mayor of Kayseri, and many prominent families lived here. Tavlusun was previously a place where Turks, Greeks and Armenians lived. This region, where mosques and churches are located side by side, is adjacent to Germir and Mimarsinan Neighborhood, following the Talas and Derevenk Valley. There are 2 registered churches, 3 mosques, 4 fountains, 2 bridges, 1 aqueduct, 1 water well, 1 makter and 1 prayer in its back.
